Snowpocalypse!

Today we got a big snow/ice/sleet storm that effectively shut the city down. Tom and I both went to work this morning before all the precipitation started, and we both left early (Tom around 10, me around 12) when we were able. Donovan even got his first snow day! His school announced they would not be open today at about 9:30 last night. Luckily, my dad was going to watch Reese anyways so Donovan tagged along there and my dad got a bonus kid to watch.  The drives home from work (for me) and from my parents (for Tom) was not the most fun but we got home safely where we got to enjoy the snow with the kids later. Both of them were troopers outside while Tom and I shoveled. They both asked several times to make a snow man and patiently waited when I told them not yet. Reese even got out her little push cars and rode them down the driveway until the snow plow pile of snow at the end of the driveway stopped her. Then I pulled them up and down the sidewalk on the sled and they loved that. Donovan was a good helper with the shoveling of the  snow. Although he didn't quite get the the idea that we only had to clear the driveway and not the grass as well. We did make that snowman that they asked for, which Donovan also got a kick out of destroying.

This was about the extent of Reese's shoveling help.

After we had been outside for about 30 minutes, Donovan requested we go inside to have some hot chocolate to warm up. Sounded like a great idea to me.  So we did!

I love the chocolate mustache.

Photo dump

Ms. Amanda sent this one to me a couple weeks ago. One of my all time favorite pictures of Reese. She looks so grown up in it. I think it is the head tilt.

And this is how you rip the fabric on the toy baby stroller and make fun memories all at the same time.

Sometimes spidey needs to eat.

Feeding her horsie.

Post nap hang out with Nick.

Best 1yr old fish face.

Funny face with during bath time with nick.

She just decided to pull one arm out of her shirt one night at dinner.

And then she celebrated her silliness with a gloating max and relax pose.

Cheesing during our family breakfast at Panera.

After our family breakfast we did some family grocery shopping, complete with mini carts.

Hanging with Ian man for the super bowl party, 3 and 1 yr old style.

I think Grammie Q was telling a hilarious joke here.

Testing out the suit to prepare for the upcoming swimming season.
This is my big 1 yr old. Her brother, wants nothing to do with putting on his clothes (he can do it, did it all last night, including those tricky socks, he just chooses not to most days). Reese, wants to do it all. And shirts go on over your feet. Do not tell her otherwise.

Thats one way to put on a shirt.

Shirt success! And pants go on your head.

Modeling her Mardi Gras crown Grammie Q made her.
I come down stairs 60 seconds after the kids this morning and I walk right past Reese, and I hear her say, "Mommy, take off cap. Mommy, take off cap." I look down and she has our (expensive) camera in her hands and strap around her neck. Budding little photographer.

Deep thoughts by Donovan Q

"Mom, there is a muffin in my butt. (laughing). There is a muffin because I am tooting and it's not making any sounds."

I left work around 1 today (I'm sick) and picked up Donovan from school so we could take our naps together. We were the only ones home when he followed me into the bathroom (which I was using) and shut the door behind him, telling me, "Mom, I'm shutting the door for you so you can have some privacy."  Hmmm, nice in theory Donovan.

In other news Donovan has been making a big point of sweetly asking both Tom and myself separately if we had a good day at work. Love it.

In other, other news, Reese has a new way to say her favorite animal. It has been the hippopotamus for a while now, and we referred to it as a "hippo", However as of Saturday she calls it a "Hippo-thomas". So clear that at first I thought she was calling the hippo "thomas", but then I realized she was trying to say the proper name. I have made her say it about 36 times so far. I love it.

Busy

So since my last blog we have been a little busy. Here is the rundown: Tom has been to New Hampshire and back for a work trip, I have had 3 work functions (ok fine, one was a happy hour), tom had a night of hockey, Tom and Dono went to "Sesame Street Live", Dono went to a train show with my parents, Tom dono and my dad went to the monster truck jam last night and we went to our friends house tonight for a super bowl hang out. So we have been busy having fun bottom line. Here are some pictures from the past week and a half.

Sesame Street Live: Verdict- Donovan liked it ok but doesn't want to go see it again. Next time we will take sister instead. She would love it.

Kid would not take a regular picture (except the first with his dad) at the show.
Tom plays on a roller hockey team every week. He had a mini jersey made for Donovan so he could be just like his daddy and he gave it to Donovan on Friday night. Donovan LOVED it! Took his shirt off and put on the jersey right away and ran down stairs to play hockey.

He still has some growing to do to really fit in it obviously.

Today was a snow day and we went out and played in it. This is my little peanut almost all ready to go play.

These are from last week when my parents took Donovan to a train show.

My parents had to help out this past thursday when Tom and I were both busy after work. This was bath time fun.
