Easter fun

What a gorgeous day! We hit the jackpot for weather this Easter and had a wonderful day all around. Only thing missing was my parents, who are returning from their vacay. Here are some of our fun Easter times.

Last night we decorated our eggs. Dono did awesome and was very gentle getting the eggs in and out of the colors. Reese, well, she was her 1 yo self. Crazy as usual.

Zoom in on Reese's face if you can on this one. This is how she  kisses us every night.

Dono thought the eggs looked so good he ate 2 right away after he finished decorating them!  He also ate the   yolk with the first egg and then took a couple bites with the second and then declared that he didn't like "the yellow part." Then he told me he would like the yolk when he was 4. So next month then.

This morning the kids were up bright and early at 7. So excited for our fun day ahead.

Reese got some princess sunglasses because she only has one pair and always wears her brothers glasses, as she dances "opa style" around the house. Dono decided he wanted to try out her new glasses. What do you know, they fit him perfect.

A little before 10 we made it to Tom's parent's house where the kids (im)patiently waited for the other big kids to get there so they could do the easter egg hunt.  The baskets still had their booty in them so they had to use Target bags to put the eggs in. We called them "hoosier baskets".

This was the crowd that was watching all the action.

My cuties.

Some of our family friends, who have a little older children, came over and were playing with the kids in the afternoon. They went to the playground and on the way back Donovan was running with the girl, Sophia, when they tripped each other up and Dono took a face first tumble. So he finished his Easter looking like this.

And Reese finished her Easter looking like this. Hanging in her dad's car, playing, with a Natty (Natural light beer) hat on. She's classy everyone.

Is this spring?

So it is March 24th and technically spring yet here we are, in the midst of a winter snow storm. It has been snowing since this morning and it isn't predicted to stop until late tonight. The forecast is anywhere from 6-8 inches. Yikes. My lucky duck parents got out of town just in time and are enjoying the warmth of South Carolina. Must be nice.  We did take advantage of the weather and went outside where Reese sweetly asked me to build her a snowman about 15 times before I finally did it. I would call this our first official snowman as the last one we did was pretty wimpy and got knocked down by a certain someone (ahem, Donovan, ahem) 5 minutes later.

In this picture I was doing silly dancing so they would smile and they would give us a nice picture. Apparently  that was confusing as both of them took it as a sign to start silly dancing themselves, which they both did very well.

The adventures of Spidergirl

This is just a random post with random pictures of my Reesie poo. I just love this little bug and thought she needed a special blog to show her little spitfire of a personality.

This is Reese hanging in her brothers Halloween costume. Because what little girl doesn't want to dress like a  superhero on occasion.
Feet were a little long so we had to do some rolling.

Tom's mom took this picture one day during her nap to show how many "guys" were sleeping with her. She has a rotating group with the main stays being her multiple kitties. This particular day she was uber crabby so Donovan donated his Happy Feet penguin to her to see if that would make her happy. He told us that she was crying so much "She was giving me a headache." I am sure he was right. Sometimes, being almost 2, having a cold and teething is just too much for one little lady to handle.

Reese showing off her new/gently used tutu. She loves it, I love her.

This is one of my favorite/saddest pictures of late. This is a heartbroken Reese. What was the cause of the heartbreak? Donovan wanted a turn in her swing at grammie Q's house. That swing makes her so dang happy. She was the one that had the idea that Pawpaw should hang it in the storage area in their basement so that she could swing in the cold weather. Maybe because it was her idea, she thinks that she is the only one that should be able to swing in it. Grammie says it is all she wants to do. She does it so much that the ropes she holds on to have started to hurt her hands. Instead of swinging less, she did some trouble shooting and discovered that if he held her nigh-night (blankie) in her hands and then held the rope, her hands wouldn't hurt.

Look how happy this girl is. No wonder grammie will push her for hours on the days Reese is at her house.

This is what I found one day when Reese was playing in my bathroom unsupervised. She found the Vaseline that we use to put on her cheeks when they get chapped and she put " a little bit" on (that's what she told me). Visible chunks of Vaseline hanging off of your face is a little more than a "little bit" I would say.

Reese trying to be like a big girl. She rarely does anything on here but it is not for lack of trying. (and don't you dare suggest she try going on the little kid potty. Those things are for babies)

This is Reese eating Taco Bell mild sauce straight out of the packet. I knew she was my child!

This is Reese at 7am this past Tuesday while I was getting ready for work. I love how this kid marches to the beat of her own awesome drum. This picture sums her up perfectly. Doing her own thing and loving it. And I love her for it.

The Day Reese Got Mad At Paw Paw

DAD POST!

So my mom watches the children three times every week for us. On Mondays she has just Reese out at her house, on Wednesday she comes to our house and watches both kids and on Fridays, the kids' favorite day, she watches both of them out at her house. On Mondays and Fridays my dad usually comes home for lunch so he can visit with the kids too.

Now we all know grandparents and how they spoil their grandchildren. And that's exactly what Paw Paw had in mind one Friday afternoon several months ago when he came home from work. He had scored a super sweet 18-wheeler truck from work that he knew Donovan would love. So at lunch break he came home to visit, have lunch and give Donovan his new truck. See below:

Dono was pumped. He loves this truck. I mean look at it! It's so sweet! The doors on the trailer open up for storing what else? More cars! It makes noise and it's huge. It's everything a three-year-old could possibly want. One problem, it's NOT everything a one-and-a-half year old could want. In fact, in Paw Paw's excitement to give this radical gift to his grandson, he had forgotten about his granddaughter.

I don't think this was by any means malicious, I just think he was under the impression that she either wouldn't notice or wouldn't care.

BUT NOTICE AND CARE SHE DID.

After the gift was presented to Donovan, Reese refused to even make eye contact with Paw Paw. And the more he called her name and tried to get her attention, the farther she craned her neck in the opposite direction.

When I showed up after work to pick the kids up, my mom was telling me this story and I kind of thought she was embellishing it a bit. But then my dad showed up. We were out back and Reese was swinging in her swing while Dono was running around. When Paw Paw came out of the door, Reese immediately looked in the opposite direction.

Paw Paw called, "Reese! Reeeeeesssse!" and she continued to crane her neck away from him. This girl was upset that she did not get a super awesome new toy like her brother did! What a little diva!

Well Paw Paw learned his lesson and he and MiMi spent their Saturday afternoon that weekend driving around trying to find a hippo for Reese (her favorite) so she could have a toy when she came back on Monday.

What a good Paw Paw.

All things monster truck

The current Donovan obsession is monster trucks. It has been since a little before Christmas.  Tom and I heard that the monster truck show was coming to town on Feb 2nd so we got Donovan tickets but didn't tell him he was going until the day of as we did not think that he would sleep if he knew a head of time. My dad took Donovan to see one of the monster trucks the day before the truck show at a local car dealer. It ended up being kind of a bust as they didn't even get the truck off the trailer it was being transported in and the big wheels weren't on it, so my dad took Dono to a different place where they have Big foot five (or was it six? I don't know and I can't ask Dono as he is napping but he would know) and that was a hit. He still talks about it.

These are the pictures of Big foot and the other monster truck.

This is Dono posing with his singed picture of the "Barbarian" from the driver. And that is the Barbarian behind him in the truck.

I love this picture. Such a little squirt.
Tom and my dad took Dono to the truck show the next night. Dono loved it but did end up asking to leave early as it was pretty long and he was tired.

Tom said Donovan did not like this guy. He was sitting in his own seat til this beast came out. Then he was all scared and asked Tom, "Can that thing fly?" Poor guy thought it was coming for him.

He is already talking about going next year, "when I'm four and a half." We have monster trucks almost daily and often watch monster truck videos on line. Who knew we would be such hoosiers at heart?
